Default Thank You to CWT for Motor Mill

I want to extend a heartfelt thanks to all members who participated and assisted w/ the Motor Mill Iowa event. In particular I need to extend a thanks to Steven Cone for his participation and his contributions to the cause. I do hope to one day be able to return the favor.

Socknitter, Mobil96, Ole, Court Stahr, William and Emaline all directly supported the event and next year when it is done again I believe there will be a note on the flyer of the support availed by CWT members.

Again thank you and God Bless.

THank you for pointing that out Ole, I did indeed appreciate Margaret and her large tent when it strated to rain like the dickens...a dry place to eat. Though setting up her tent by moon, candle, and head light was a challenge!

Shane,

It was a pleasure, to be apart the event, I love educating the public.. Its amazing that some that visited had no clue that men from their own home town were involed in the war a all.

My heart felt thanks goes you all for making this Southern boy feel at home..

I wish there was more time to have chated with the Civil war talk Folk.. never did really get into a good discussion. but that is expected when we are all
still trying to do the meet and greet thing.

Socknitter thank you for the goodie bag i will put it to good use..

Ole and Mobil96 thank you coming and discusing the war the little that we did.
Look forward to see your pictures.

Shane, please send my regards to all in your unit , the Misses and little Mira

Court, William and Emaline. It was a pleasure meeting you all and hope i able to attend a event with you all again..

kindest regards,
Steven

Even though we weren't able to get everyone 'around the campfire' at the same time, the visit with all of you was a pleasure, something to be remembered for a long time. Maybe the next 'accumulation' of CWTalk members at one site will be even better.
Will start working on the pics shortly. If enough of them are recognizable, I might make the complete set available on a cd to everyone wanting them, that was there, and they would be larger than what will be on my site.
Catch everyone later,
Chuck in IL.

Oh YES. I would like to add a thank you to everybody connected with Motor Mill. It was a beautiful site and with the small group of people, conducive to making acquaintances! Just getting to the remote historical site was an adventure of its own, and it was very enjoyable to me and my mother who came along at the last minute. We really hope this will be an annual event. By the way, at an Iowa Welcome Center on the Minnesota/Iowa border, the attendant gave me (in return for filling out a survey) an Iowa postcard featuring 4 scenic places: the biggest picture was of canoeing on the Turkey River right at Motor Mill, below the half-broken bridge. Apparently there are forces in action trying to give more publicity to Motor Mill. Thank you again, Johan, for getting this thing rolling.

I want to put together a CD with photos taken by everyone of this group that attended Motor Mill, as a souvenir for each of us. It would be a pretty simple collection, probably just folders of each persons submitted photos. I'd probably also include a photo viewing program I have, which can be used or ignored as you prefer.
And the label and cd holder cover would also be pretty simple, as I found my printer model has a high color fading issue after time. Unless someone else would like to create covers and lables, and send to me to be applied and mailed? We would only need 8, IIRC. Anyone Game!! (And I don't mean Gamey, from being unwashed in the field too long. LOL).
If we get this done, do you guys want the photos to be resized to a specific size or as taken by the camera. I'd prefer a set size, something along the line of 800x600,but would like to receive photos to be used sent 'as taken'. I could even resize to one folder and put full size in a 2nd folder. When I finally get some trip pics on my site, they will probably set at 640x480.
Suggestions on this project are welcomed.
Sockknitter has already sent me hers on a CD, anyone else interested? If so send me a email and I'll remit my address.
Now I will be out of touch here, starting June 15th, until maybe June 20th or 21st, since that starts Keeno's and my trip to Vicksburg.
Chuck.
