Did anyone here besides me attend McDowell?

No, sorry, I'm not a reenactor. However, my son and I visited McDowell two summers ago and with effort made it to the summit of Sitlington Hill. I'd love to read about your experience at the reenactment.

Sorry, wrong part of the country for me. The event has always had a wonderful reputation. How did it fare this year?

Default McD

This was my third McD and it was great. The village, with few exceptions, is pretty 1860ish. Now the cars, dusk to daen lights and the new bridge are the exceptions. Along Davis Creek or up the hallow from the Bllpasture River, you can have magic moments.

The camps were static this year for the first time. This produced some interesting night time activities. I did not partake.

Period rations were issued and cooked at the company level and more than sufficed.

The best part of McD is seeing folks from the "dake side". We will not meet up again in such numbers until Payne's Farm. Summer of '62 has promise and Chris Anders does an excellent job.

Just remember 2007 is right around the corner. Give it a try.

Default Cheers on the event....

i loved the event.. it was a fun and period time but i had some complaints but i wont get into that side... buti was given the job with the help of another experienced butchering friend to cut up a whole half of a beef cow for the confederate rations... it was my period peek of the weekend.
