Steve, Funny you mention that about being a Reb. Erik's already said he wants to do Confederate artillary just like his Uncle Bryan some day. He's the only five year old I know (minus other re-enactors) that knows the difference between Union blue and Confederate grey!
Its great to see children with such passion for hiistory.
A few years ago. In an issue of Civil War Preservation Trust - Hollowd Ground they did a small story of young lad who was 7 or 8 at the time and wanted wither no birthday presents and instead of gifts requested that he money used for Battlefield Preservation. The Story brought tears to eyes.
Steven.

I can't say that Erik has a similar story, but for Christmas this year he asked Santa for a baby anvil, since his daddy is a blacksmith. I asked him what he'd do with an anvil and he said "Well, I think I'd like to pound on some steal for a while." I just had to laugh. What 4 yr. old knows what an anvil is, let alone what to do with it???
He comes by the passion for history naturally. My hubby and I both love history, and we look forward to teaching Erik history from a fun and productive way, other then how some of the lame brain teachers teach it. There are some good history teachers out there, but there are allot that only teach what the school corriculume recomends, and they have no enthusiasm.
Here is a picture and article about this years Confederate Memorial Day at the Camp Chase Cemetery in Columbus, Ohio.
Sincerely,
Unionblue

Another picture of my Federal artillery unit, the 1st Ohio Light Artillery, doing an artillery demo at a local school. Note the cannon is actually made of brass and was made during the Civil War.
