They were genuine oxen. The blue wagon was also painted using authentic clay based paint using a natural period recipe. That rig and the driver was one of those essential elements that made this event so great.

So you think the war in the East was tough, do you? Ever consider what it would mean to be captured by Apache?

Steve,

If I ever get down that way, I'll be sure to look you up as my battlefield guide.

I must say, you look very natural in that tree gunning for yanks. Put a shiver down my spine!

As for your captured 'little' federal, in my judgement you have to throw him back for being under the legal limit.

Sincerely,
Unionblue

Default Photo info and LH AAR

The story behind the photos is.. I did a Living History demo at Carnton, in Franklin a few weeks ago.. Although our involvement was small (we were just a "Side Show of the Big Show" - There was a Battle of Franklin Symposium going on and we did demos for it )

But our little effort paid off greatly.. The Tennessee Department of tourism gave the "Tennessee Valley Battalion" (The Battalion I belong to) $400 for our part in a tourism video they filmed there.

Even though we only had a small portion of the battalion there we had close to 100 members ..

What happened to the $400 The TVB donated it to the Carter House to go to the - Carter Garden project.

I spotted the sniper tree where we (The Silver Spring Mess) bivouacked for the event. And just had to try to get a photo of me in it. I got up in it and then forgot my leathers.. but Oh well neat photo anyways .

The little fed is just 5 and is a little pistol.. He had a Confederate coat with him but for some reason wanted to wear his blue sack coat. we kept calling him our half scale yankee and he would get all fired up and say that he was a confederate because he had his US belt plate turned upside down lol . I do have more photo's of him in his rebel atire

His father Eli is just behind him in the photo.. He was on leave from the army and has been serving our country in Kosovo and has just returnd to finish his tour of duty. hes attaced to the 29th Infantry Division. And should be home by mid October so please him in your prayers
