Default Stolen Cannon Alert

Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am passing on a message received and forwarded by Ord Sgt Jon Andrews/Capt Joe Kasper of 12th VA, Co C of 2nd Regiment PACS

PLEASE POST TO ALL YOUR UNITS/PLEASE SEND THIS INFORMATION TO YOUR FRIENDS IN OTHER ORGANIZATIONS

A full size 12 pounder mountain howitzer "Exodus" has been stolen from the 5th Ohio Light Artillery. The theft was discovered March 26th. The gun has a cast iron Dixie/Hern barrel at 2 1/4" bore with 1/4" iron sleeve. Metal work is hand forged iron. Wheels are 42" with some spokes repaired. Painted green, some of the older wood will reveal a red color under the green when scratched. There is a plaque on the #1 side which reads "Exodus" by Dick and Rick Helwig, 1991.

While this forward has not been independently confirmed, a police report has been filed according to the message. If anyone knows of such a gun suddenly appearing in a unit, knows someone who has recently acquired this type of gun or discovers a sale ad for such a gun, please notify the owner, Richard Helwig at mhelwig@msn.com or 740-965-5090 (in Ohio). Thank you.

Col Dave Reitz
2nd Regiment, 1st Legion PACS

I read something about it on the AC, I think so. I sure hope the insurance covers this as it has to be a pretty significant investment.
