I have been a life long student of the American Civil War. While researching the regiments of my ancestors (the 10th West Virginia Infantry and the 6th Maryland Infantry), I found the story of the Prentiss brothers of Baltimore. Clifton fought for the North (6th Maryland) and his younger brother William fought for the South (1st and 2nd Maryland Battalions). Walt Whitman wrote about the brothers in "Memoranda During the War" and both brothers were present at the Breakthrough Battle of Petersburg on April 2, 1865. These facts and the wealth of information that I found about them convinced me that it was a story that needed to be told. The result is "Two Brothers: One North, One South." My website is www.davidhjones.net . . . I also have a website for the Breakthrough Battle at Petersburg www.petersburgbreakthrough.org and the 6th Maryland Infantry Descendants Association www.6thmarylandinfantry.org/
And may I say, what an excellent website you have created.
I hope you enjoy your time here with us.
Sincerely,
Unionblue

Should you see ***** please know it is the naughty word catcher. Innocent words often get caught, so if it is an innocent word like fu-rther (which is often caught); just insert a hyphen and cleverly respell the word.

Glad to have you Davidh. Sounds like you have a good background of knowledge on the war. Looking forward to your posts when you get around to it.

Welcome DavidHJones. Were you aware of the Annual West Coast Civil War Conference in Clovis this coming November 7-9? (Go to SFCWRT and you should find a link there in the upcoming events section). What part of California are you in? There's plenty of Civil War round tables out here and Ed Bearss told us that California ranks #2 in the quantity of round tables. That shocked us. If you're in the Bay Area, there's the North Bay, Sacramento, South Bay (San Jose), Peninsula and of course, the San Francisco chapter.
Yes, I'm aware of the event on November 7-9 and certainly wish I could attend. However, I had a commitment to be at the Blue & Gray Reenactment at Moorpark on that weekend. Hope that the scheduling is different next year. I live in the San Fernando Valley (Tarzana) and have spoken to all of the CWRT's in SoCal this past year. My local CWRT is the Civil Warriors. I have a book signing at the new Museum and Visitor Center at the Gettysburg National Military Park on November 15th and am looking forward to seeing it (particularly after reading all of the pros and cons).
I see that you've already been smothered in welcomes, Mr. Jones. So I'll just check the box that says you're here and I'm glad. But. Do you know anything about Bigiron's coehorn?
