Post Hello from France

Hello,
I'm Mathieu I'm 26 years old I live in the south of France. I'm fascinated by the military history and I'm very pleased to join this forum because I have a big interest for the Civil War.
I went to Gettysburg, Antietam and Monocacy this summer and it was poignancy for me to walk on the tracks of the Pickett's charge and to see the Bloodie lane, the Cornield...
Happy to be on board.
Regards,
Mathieu

Welcome to the board, Mathieu. You have found the best place on the web to develop and enjoy your Civil War hobby.

By the way, we have had lately even some discussions about Napoleon

Many welcomes, Mathieu. We can be contentious at times, but we all share a genuine love of history. There's lots of room around the campfire. Pull up a log and sit a spell.

Welcome!

We certainly are turning into quite the international group for such a national war.

Bienvenue Zouave: Nice to see you here and hope you will stay. I have been getting my own education on your very famous Napoleon I, while my board-mates here have been comparing him to Thomas J. Jackson. (Stonewall). There is a lot that we can learn from each other through this war, Oui? (that is all the French I know)

Respectfully,
Leland

Dear Zouave1852;

Welcome to the Civil War Talk Forums.

I hope you will enjoy your stay and enjoy learning as much as sharing.

Please know, that there is a 'naughty word' catcher program in the software and often catches innocent words. So when you see **** it means it has been caught in the naughty word net. If you know your word is innocent; then you may have to use clever use of a hyphen as to break up the word. One of these most frequent victims of being an innocent word being caught in the naughty word net--is fu-rther. Sometimes you have to hypen a General's last name like General C-um-mings.

My personal practice, if I can remember to do so; is to color the altered word in green so folks know I had to cleverly spell an innocent word as to keep it out of the net. Moderators do not have control over this--so, just wanted to advise you as to let you know we're not picking on you.

There is no quota system--or required number of posts per week, etc. However, we certainly like to hear from all of our members.

The Zouaves were rather popular and patterned after the French units, which were known for their valor.

Hello,
Thanks for all your messages.
I don't have a lot of knowledge to share about the Civil War, but I will try my best to participate as much as I can to this forum.
Thanks again.
Mathieu
