Default I'm here....

Well I have been interested in the Civil War since I was a little boy....I grew up in a Civil War battle ravaged town....Wilmington N.C....I have done extensive studies on the battle of Fort Fisher, and Bentonville. I also began metal detecting around the area in my teens and have found quit a few Civil War artifacts which some I have kept and some donated to museums. Twice I have completed a Civil War campaign of touring battlefields in Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania...well enough babble...hope to discuss some Civil War talk with you guys....Fisher...

Welcome to the forum. We look forward to your insights.

I admit to not knowing much about Fort Fischer. Perhaps you can enlighten us.

Fisher, welcome aboard. You live in an under appreciated are of the civil war. My ancestors from the 30th IL were in you neck of the woods and I would love to visit NC someday in the future though trips are fewer with two kids going to college. One is at U of IL....and yes, we still hurt from the NCAA BB Championship game a few years back :-)

Dear Fisher;

Welcome to the Civil War Talk forums. I am sure you will enjoy this forum a lot.

IF you see a **** in your post, please know we aren't picking on you. There is a software program installed that is a naughty word catcher. So, innocent words sometimes get caught for some reason. Like fu-rther. Now, I can understand General Cu-m-mings name being caught but--it is a wee bit difficult to follow a post with these **** in it. So, if your typed an innocent word, you may have to use clever spelling with hypens as to bypass the naughty word catcher.

Please know there is no 'quota' system here and, please post when you are comfortable in doing so--no pressure to post. That said, please do know, that it helps a lot to cite references if you can when you post, as to permit those on the list to read independently. This really helps the discussion exchange; as reading from the same book--gives opportunities for broader discussions.

Again, welcome to Civil War Talk and, hope to see your observations and comments in the future.

Respectfully submitted for consideration,
M. E. Wolf

Hi Fisher,

I'm a very late bloomer myself and didn't get into the Civil War until eight years ago (or so). However, I've been into Civil War naval history since childhood and there is a special place in my heart for the Monitor.

You've done quite a bit for your young years. I hope you become a park historian/ranger and lead some fantastic tours. I may be working with you if you do because that's what I want to be when I'm retired.

Gary
