Have lurked for a while, and am amazed at the level of knowledge here at Civil War Talk. The Civil War is just one of my wide-ranging historical interests, and as such, I am not that well read. I've read Catton (both trilogies) in earlier years, and more recently Shelby Foote.

Anyway, congrats on a most valuble and well managed resource.

Many welcomes, Stump. Pull up a log and tell us stories. (Comments on the wonderful weather you enjoy year-round will not be appreciated.)ole

Sounds like you've got a pretty darned good start on the reading.

Welcome!

Dear Stump;

Welcome to Civil War Talk. I am pleased to have you join us and, do look forward to your observations and comments.

IF you see **** in your posts and it is an innocent word; please know that this is due to the naughty word catcher program in the system. So, IF you have an innocent word; go back to your post and hit the Edit button and go to the **** and cleverly insert hyphens as to pass the net per se. For some reason the naughty word catcher --snags 'fu-rther' and I can understand snagging General C-um-mings but--anyway; just wanted to let you know these things happen to all. And, you aren't being picked on.

That said--we do have some folks who like to tease others and give them a friendly 'hard time.' But, usually the individuals teasing back and forth have known one another a while.

Please know, that there is no quota on how much you post or not. Please do take your time and post when you are comfortable. When you do post, it is always welcomed to cite references if possible; as to permit everybody who are curious to read that reference themselves. Sometimes this aids in the discussion and exchanges.

Again, welcome!

Respectfully submitted for consideration,
M. E. Wolf

You've read more than I. I've only read one Catton triology (and part of the other one) and haven't touched Foote yet. Another famous one I've never read was Red Badge of Courage.

Welcome! These forums are a wealth of information and everyone seems very friendly.

BTW, I'm reading Foote's trilogy now... I'm a super fast reader and I'm not even done with book one yet!
