Hi from Australia. Just getting into muzzleloading shooting and have a interest in the rifles used in the ACW, particularly the P53 Enfield. Also interested in military history. Only know a little of the ACW history and always interested in learning more.
Welcome! Welcome! Always room under the tent for one more.

Welcome to the Civil War Talk forums. You can see, there are many forums and you can see lot of chatter about the Enfield.
Civil War Talk has a growing family of weapon, artillery and ammunition experts and very well versed individuals.
Please feel no pressure to post, as there are no quota systems. The pace is yours to set.
There is a naughty/potty word catcher on the forums. Unfortunately, it catches innocent words. So, when you see an innocent word with **** go to the edit feature in your post and perhaps edit the spelling with hypens as to see the word.
Respectfully submitted for consideration,

Welcome Damon. This is a user-friendly board. They welcome the new folks pretty well. I'm one too. If you don't know much about the ACW then you've come to the right place. Most of what I know I've learned here on the board, through posts and also through the books that are recommended and cited as sources. Hope you stay awhile and participate with us. No worries, mate.
Respectfully,
Leland

Damon, do you have an Enfield that you shoot now? I have found it dificult for me to be accurate with (I prefer the springfields "42 or '61) but my son shoots it just fine. The ball shape and weight as well as the amount of powder used makes shooting blackpowder a challenge that I enjoy.
Welcome to the group; I am sure you will learn much from your visits here.

Matt,
I don't have an Enfield yet, saving up for one. Repro Enfields are more common in Australia than Springfield '61 or '63s but you can get them in. One of the most common reproduction rifles of the period available is the Remington 1863 contract rifle but I know that it had no or little use in the ACW.
