Default Hi from Missouri

Hi! I just joined and am enjoying exploring the boards. It appears any question imaginable has been addressed at some point on these boards!

My personal interest currently is the Civil War (or might I call it the "Other Civil War") along the Missouri-Kansas border, and the conflict between the bushwhackers and the jayhawkers. I have done a lot of research on it and am accumulating a pretty decent library on the subject, my favorite among them being "Inside Wars" by Michael Fellman.

I've always been told I was distantly related to Sterling Price ("Old Pap"). According to my mother, my great-grandmother spoke of him often - I believe it was her sister (?) who carried the Price name. At any rate, I'm told that many make that claim and he is hard to trace after the war, so I may never know.

Welcome to the boards. Your area of interest is one that we have not explored of late herein, so I hope you will take the opportunity to enlighten us.

Dear CJBro;

Welcome to Civil War Talk.

Hopefully, you will take advantage of the various sections of forums offered here.

As I have told other new folks; we have a software that is out of most moderator's controls that monitors language. Unfortunately, it does not pick out innocent words from the naughty ones. For example; Colonel Cu-mm-ings has to be spelled awkwardly or else it would have **** in it. Or, describing a ship's sk-re-w; will be censored. Just wanted you to be aware so if you do see the **** check your spelling and perhaps create a clever way of using hyphens to break the word up so it doesn't make swiss cheese out of your posts.

This is a very polite forum and have youthful members. So, with the 'spirit' of having no worries about tots to old tea drinkers as I am; can come on the forums and study, learn, exchange in conversation; without the need to screen what is said here.

There is no quota system here. Just go at your own speed and enjoy your experiences.

Just some thoughts.

Respectfully submitted for consideration,
M. E. Wolf

CJbro, your geneology isn't that hard to figure out. You do a lot of backtracking of the census records and you'll be able to establish a link to Price. Then you can "gwine" the SCV (Sons o' Corn-fed Veterans). Welcome to the board!
