I've been reading with great interest some of the posts here and thought I'd introduce myself. I'm from Auburn, AL (WAR EAGLE!!!) and have been interested in the Civil War for quite some time; I have 5 direct ancestors who fought in the War and managed to come home alive. Like the other Alabamian earlier, I also took a trip to some battlefields this summer. I went to Manassas, Chancellorsville, Wilderness (stood on the earthworks of Battle's Brigade at Saunders Field), Spotsylvania (also saw the original position of Battle's Brigade), Cedar Creek, and Fisher's Hill (saw the initial and final positions of Battle's Brigade). As you might guess, I had an ancestor in Battle's Brigade (61st AL INF).
My main interest, and the driving force in my Civil War studies, is in learning about the actions in which my ancestors fought.

Welcome to the forum. Take a seat by the fire, pour yourself a cup of "coffee" and we'll cook you up some sloosh.

Welcome, Edwardo. It must be a great feeling to walk in the traces of your ancestors.

I hope you will explore the many forums, links and such; as to help your quest in Civil War interests.
I do wish to forewarn you about the 'auto naughty text censor.' LOL; if you see *** it is 'censored.' Often for something most innocent. So, if it passes the 'spirit of decency' you may need to use creative spelling; such as adding a hypen or a dot/dash there or such; as to complete your message. Moderators such as I don't have control over such--so, in advising you ahead of time--you will not take it personally.
Please enjoy the forums and the splendid members who are full of individual qualities that gives a well rounded perspective.
It wasn't until I came to this forum that I discovered I had ancestors who had fought on both sides in the American Civil War.
Strange, isn't it, to stand where they might have stood, to look across that 'small, deadly space' and wonder how they felt, or how you might have felt if you had been there with them.
I hope you enjoy your time here and learn even more about your ancestors. Your journey is just beginning.
Welcome.
Sincerely,
A fellow traveler,
Unionblue

ROLLLLLLL Tide my War Eagle friend! Welcome to the boards!
Spotsylvania County is my favorite Civil War theatre to date that I've visited - it is a very haunting place. I can't wait to go back.

War Eagle - that's amazing! All five relatives returned home after the war? Luck must run in torrents in your family (and hopefully you too). Welcome to the board.
