Default Newbie from Oscoda Michigan

Hello All,

My name is Dave E. and I am a teacher in Oscoda, MI. I actually teach Math and Science but I'm a huge history buff. Mainly Civil War.

I've just gotten back into reading about the subject and have already learned a lot from trolling threads on this board. Last book I read was "April 1965" by J. Winik.

I don't know how much I'll be able to contribute to conversation on this board at this point...I promise to try my best I look forward to getting to know all of you.

Dave

Welcome!

I think Winik's book is excellent and illustrates General Lee's excellent character.

Feel free to jump in!

Regards,

John W.

I just finished that book myself.

Welcome aboard.

Thank you for the welcome!

If you use the Michigan Method of showing someone your right palm and pointing on your hand where you are located...Oscoda is right between the first and second knuckle of the index finger

Or I could be less vague and tell you it is on Lake Huron 20 minutes north of Tawas and about an hour south of Alpena.

Hello, Dave E., and welcome to the forum.

I must say that I concur with my fellow board members about the book, April 1865, by J. Winik, an excellent book.

And my friend JohnW in E. TN is correct in that the book shows the splendid character of Gen. Lee in a very extraordinary time.

Really hope you will find the time between teaching and grading papers to join us here and share your thoughts and opinions.

Again, welcome!

Sincerely,
Unionblue
