Good evening from the other side of the pond

It is a magnificent crisp (-7 degrees Celsius) starlit evening here in Grindleford a Peak District village of 500 inhabitants. You asked why?
Your war was feudal almost medieval. The confederates strike me as an eccentric proud spirited people and the Yankees as principled (not to say the confederates were not). Whose side would I be on?
