Default Howdy from Virginia

I've been doing alot of reading here and have enjoyed the site so far.
A little about myself, born in raised in good ole Virginia, 30 mins from Appomattox. Over a dozen of my ancestors on my mother's and father's side served for the state suring the Civil War and in the Revolutionary War. ost were calvary.
I read the intro from Sarg. Wildgoose, my family were Scots-Irish and settled in Staunton and Roanoke in the late 1600's - early 1700's. (Please don't smack me Sarg. that was many, many years ago.)
I am very involved in Civil War history here, there is always some sort of "battle" in our state going on to this day. Ya'll would also be surprised how many Union and Confederate soldiers are buried here with no ID or marker, some with poor markers. I volunteer alot of time to helping those forgotton folks, adding a name to the grave. I've also been lucky enough to be involved in several house restorations along the Lee's Retreat route and other historic places.
Virginia history is the best contribution I can add to the site. I am no professor, but can answer most questions with ease. I'm also very lax on my typing, so you will find the missing g on many words because I simply don't say them that way...so bear with me.

I hope your stay will be both long and enjoyable. It's always a pleasure to read words typed in Confederate style. My roots are deep into the history of Virginia. We're probably cousins. Welcome aboard.
