Default Greetings, salutations and other such rubbish

Salutations to all those that chose to read this. This is a little late in coming but better late than never I suppose.

I would like to introduce myself by first saying that my name is Martyn (the 'y' is very important) and I am an Englishman, born and raised in Portsmouth, the Home of the Royal Navy.

Having said that, if my name was spelt out in initials it would be 'MAJR'...I'm only mission an 'O'.

I have one nickname and that comes from my alias on a number of internet sites. That nickname is WT which stands for White Tiger.

My interest in the War Beweteen the States came originally from a documentory in the UK about it and then from watching the movie 'Gods and Generals' and having a desire to find out whether or not what the movie showed was true.

Since that time I have continued my research, though not in any real depth thus far, and focused mainly on the Eastern Theatre and individual generals such as Lee and Stonewall.

I am a Confederate sympathisor of sorts.

I know that my knowledge on the war is very slim and in part I can blame my local librarys for not having the information I'm looking for but mostly I blame my lack of knowledge on my own lazyness and short attention span.

In terms of my own personality I will say that I can be a bit pompous at times and also stubborn and easilly irritated however I do usually attempt to crush those feelings before I post.

And as you may have noticed from this post I can be quite longwinded.

Anyway, that's me in a nutshell.

Welcome aboard, Nytram. You can borrow my "o" if you promise to give it back when I need it.

Welcome Martyn, English sympathiser of the Corn-fed cause. Did you ancestors sell anything to Caleb Huse?

I've been to Portsmouth to visit Nelson's Victory, RN Museum, Royal Marine Museum and the HMS Warrior. I've also seen the ruins of the nearby Roman castle and while having lunch in a pub, sat with some senior citizens. One lady told me she remembered when the zeppelin bombed Portsmouth.

Welcome "Logwinded".

Check out our Trivia Game, but don't win it, as posting of prizes to Europe (yes you) are an expensive problem.

Welcome to the boards.

I was stationed in the UK from 1986-1994 and my wife is from the Oxford area.

It is interesting the many Europeans who have an intrest in the CW.

Cheers and welcome.
