Thank you all kindly for your welcome. I am looking forward to reading your postings and replying if I had a comment to make. I was reading last night forever and didn't put a dent in the post .
Ole I did submit my answers to Sam and then did post them on the board. Thanks for all your help.
Gary nice to see another Californian on the board to help let people know we were part of the Civil War also.
Yes, Amazing the connections to the Bear State Republic. Welcome to the board. Lowell's Cav Battalion really saved Lincoln's behind a time or two (Rockville). Trust me, this New Yorker is grateful. Look forward to hearing your views on everything from amputations to zouaves.

Welcome to the board. Im fairly new here, myself, and have found this to be about my favourite site on the net. Very informative and such knowledgable folk Ive yet to find in one place!
How is good ol Cali doing today? I spent 15 years there myself...mostly in 29Palms, Camp Pendleton and 3 in San Mateo Co. Always miss it. Welcome, again.
Custersluck,
Other than too many people who crowd the highways California is just fine . I have lived in the L.A. Orange County area my whole life. Most of it at the beach in Orange County.
You must have been in the Marines seeing where you lived . I see you are now in Michigan. My great grand father Sweet fought with the 19th Michigan at Thompson Station. They were captured and sent to Libby Prison . Paroled about a month and a half later he went home with lung diease. Worked the rest of his life as a night policeman . Drew a pension . I have never been to Michigan but still would like to just to find his grave and the one that says he killed a guy in 1868. The tombstone actually reads Killed by Aaron Sweet!!!!
