Default Greetings from Mississippi

AKA, the State that lost the war.

I've always held an interest in the War of Secession (I think that's a state law ), so a few days ago I decided to find a forum about it.

I've never done any reinactments, but I'd like to someday.

I'm a sophmore at the University of Florida, majoring in History.

Rocket,

"Majoring in History" - excellent!

Have you any academics/profs there with "War of the Rebellion" (or what ever you call it) interests or specialties?

Sam

An open-minded southerner. One can hope. At least he didn't call it the War of Northern Aggression.

A big, fat welcome, Rocketman!

Only when I'm deliberately tweaking someone. Somewhat difficult for it to be "Northern Aggression" when we fired the first shots.

I like "War of Secession" just 'cause it sounds more colorful than the generic 'civil war'.

I probably do. I've been mostly filling up required credit hours, though.

Yep, us closed minded Southerners still use the agression part. That silly Beauregard fired or ordered the first shot, but the fightin' started when the yanks began moving into Mississippi, Virginia and Tennessee acting like they were ready for a scrap.

He was ordered by J.Davis and government, and emissary sent to Fort Sumter on 11th April did not find Anderson`s answer about surrender to be satisfactory. They did not tell general the full story about what mjr.Anderson did tell them. So he has done what he was ordered, it is not his fault.

Rocketman, if you can sort through all that, get back to work. Four years from now, when you have that precious parchment, you will appreciate the brief interlude from some of the best Lost Causers ever. Don't let the professors grind you down. Non illegitimatus carborundum est.

Don't pay any attention to Larry. He's still smarting over Franklin.
