He was ordered by J.Davis and government, and emissary sent to Fort Sumter on 11th April did not find Anderson`s answer about surrender to be satisfactory. They did not tell general the full story about what mjr.Anderson did tell them. So he has done what he was ordered, it is not his fault.
Nico, I'm impressed.

My guess would be he refers to the Fall of Vicksburg.

The first shot on Sumter was fired by Edmund Ruffin, Virginia Secessionist, who blew his brains out after hearing of Appomattox.

Welcome aboard Barksdale - how bout them NATIONAL CHAMPION GATORS.

Fall of Vicksburg could be the last stone to the grave of the Confederacy, but not the main cause. The South has lost war in 1862 (in military sense) in Tennessee in my opinion. If You place in command of the 2nd most important army in the South a guy who was training troops in Pensacola, what do You think You will achieve?

More impressed.

My knowledge of Polish history is sketchy at best yet you know my country's history quite well it seems.

I commend your drive to learn, Sir.

Welcome to the forum Rocket. Are you planning to work as a Park Ranger or at a museum? Jobs are hard to come by for history majors.

Welcome.

Have fine memories of the 7 1/2 weeks I spent at Keesler AFB. Did a lot of CW touring on my weekends off.
