Default Another NC Howdy

Howdy Y'all.

Nice place you got here.

I'm a member of the SCV and am moderator on our forum and one gun related board. I also help out with the Admin duties over at NUCSA.

Found out about y'all thru the Southern Heritage News and Views e mail. Looks like I owe Charles.

Seen a lot of NC folks and hope y'all allow me to hang out awhile. Thanks for having me.

For Dixie,
Mike

Mike,

Welcome to the board. Hope you enjoy your time here and join us on the other topics.

I saw your signature line where you think Grant said such. What do you think of mine?

Sincerely,
Unionblue

Welcome Mike,

Hope you enjoy the site.

Maybe one day you can provide a definitive source for that Grant quote.

Sam

partssman,

It's all over the web that UFOs are spacecraft from another world or that they are based at the South Pole, etc. Until I see hard evidence that such craft exist and are proven to be spacecraft, I won't claim that they are such.

It's the same with your Grant quote. It can't be proven that the man uttered that phrase, even though it's posted all over the web.

Since it seemed to cause problems it's now changed and I learned something in the process.

You mean you don't believe in UFO's

partssman,

It means just because some people say a thing is true, doesn't mean that it is.

What I believe is one thing. What I can prove is something entirely different.

Sincerely,
Unionblue

Somewhere in the archives is a discussion on that particular quote. If you care enough to do quite a bit of research, it's well worth looking into. I haven't mastered the search function well enough to help you find it, but I do recall that it was Hanny who insisted it was a valid quote because it was listed in the Oxford Book of Quotations. Try searching the member list, find all posts by Hanny, and riffle through the hits.

I recall reading about the St.Louis Massacre when Union militia fired on the crowd - in that crowd were one Ulysses Simpson Grant and Wlliam Tecumseh Sherman - thank goodness the militia were such lousy shots.

I hope we can celebrate our heritage without personal animosity. The only mistake the Southern Confederacy made was to lose.

After Appomattox the only place slavery was still legal was in a Union state.

I revere Lee and Grant - not many lands can say that about war opponents.
Nice to meet you Partssman.
