Well, Suwanee, I'll have to thank you -- I think -- for bringing activities in Florida to our attention. Florida's activities are more remote, even, than those in, say, New Mexico. It's a wake-up in that the war touched everyone.

My numbers are a little foggy, but I believe the 17th Vermont Cavalry was defeated and captured by Dickinson's cavalry somewhere on the road near Bunnell.

There's the site of a forgotten cavalry clash that has probably never seen a metal detector.

I've never been able to find the site, and don't know if it was the entire 17th or just an element of it. If word didn't get back until the release of the prisoners taken, then the site was probably untouched and may be intact.
