Default Hello from Texas2nd

Hi All,

Glad to be here! I have a real love for the ACW and the military being an Army brat myself. My father was USArmy, stationed at Nuremburg, Germany during the Occupation and then at Fort Hood. He was a Sargeant in Ironsides during the 50's and 60's.

My ancestors all fought in the ACW, for the South of course - except my Mom thiinks that there might be a Yankee in our family tree. She can't prove it though!

I had relatives in the Texas2nd, AoT Tennessee 51st Co. I, Mississippi Infantry and Mississippi Dixie Guards, and in the Texas Calvary. At last count 16 that we have records on, including ggguncles and such! Whew!

My Son-in-Law makes up for it all though as he is full blooded Yankee from New Jersey! He likes to say he kept us all from being inbreds - we just laugh at him!!

Today I was reminded by an interview with the Justices on the Supreme Court, that as a country we are the best and that the decisions made, are not physically fought over by Americans but accepted - even though we might not agree. We would not have this cohesiveness now if we had not fought the ACW.

Glad to be here,
Texas2nd

Default Welcome from Wisconsin

Welcome to the forum sir. My wife is a Texan, so I know what a handful you folks can be. You ask, how does a good Wisconsin boy meet up with a fine Texas gal? You both go to the University of Arkansas...that's how. Huzzah to you, enjoy the comradery

Our splendid regiment is almost destroyed. We have had nearly 400 men killed and wounded in the battles. Seven of our officers were shot and three killed in yesterday's battle and nearly 150 men killed and wounded. All from less than 300 engaged. The men have stood like iron....Maj.
