Welcome Nico. Good to have you with us. Hope you stay for a while. Looking forward to your posts. I enjoyed reading your post on "Confederacy's Last Hurrah".

Welcome Nico... in my life I've met a Polish Marine, paratrooper and a flight crew. Only went drinking w/ the flight crew... good god but I think they could have drank either the Ukranian or Russian crews under the table.

A college friend who was a grad of the Suvurov School & Ryazan spoke of Sun Tzu being one of his major texts; curious if it might be in that neck of the woods? He also spoke of studying Grants Vicksburg campaign and Lees 2nd Manasas campaign and of Pershing in WW1. THough, he was a student in the 60's. I recall being suprised at how well versed he was w/ US military history. Fascinating fellow.

I look forward to your contributions.

Default When one sees "Hello from Poland" you just have to say hi!

Hello Nico, and welcome to this interesting board! Always interested in hearing the opinions and observations of those 'across the pond' in regards to our history. I am always intrigued by the number of overseas members there are for these Civil War posting boards.

Glad to have you here!

I've already said "hey," Nico, but I'll say it again. "Hey."

Welcome, Maréchal Nico! Your countrymen have a long tradition of serving America with Pulaski being the most famous. Can you describe your course of study at your Academy? Do the cadets study the American Civil War?

Yeah, are we hot or not? Seriously, is American military history studied at all and if so, what aspects? Certain campaigns, certain generals, certain battles?

Gary,

As for my Academy - Warsaw Military University of Technology - it is now educating 'civilians' (and very, very little cadets). Polish Army was reduced and for many years there was little need for new officers.
Since it is technical university, soldiers did not have tactics lessons I believe.

Such tactic You are asking about is probably thaught in National Defence University , but I don`t know anything else.
