Stop with the food already. I had to go make a corned beef and provolone on french sourdough washed down with a cold O'Doul's.
If the north and the south can get along, so can the deckapes and jarheads. Welcome.
Ole

It's nice to have another Southerner on board, and a gen-u-ine South Carolinian at that! Alabaman (Rob Adams) welcomes you to 'the firing line.' :-)
I was born about 2 city blocks from the Winter Building in Montgomery, Alabama, whence came the order to fire on that little old Fort named Sumter. Even closer to my birth site was the First Whitehouse of the Confederacy. I guess you and me have a common thread due to the telegraph wires which linked Montgomery, Ala. to your home State! lol! Also, I married a woman who kinda talks like a Yankee but hails from Alaska; but it was "Southern" Alaska, mind you. ;-) Like you, Goocher Lee, I've fathered 3 children. My two boy's (we lost our third child, a little girl) have 'approved' SOUTHERN accents! I thought I'd chime in & welcome you.
Join us in a little discussion and enjoy the forum..
Nice to have another Southerner and another military member.
USAF, 21 years and I still serve as a Reservist.
Speaking of food, I just had a San Antonio traditional Christmas food, tamales

Thanks to all the welcome wagoners... it's truly an honor to read such warm greetings.
A little about me, I guess, is in order...
Born in Seneca, South Carolina, fifteen miles from John C Calhoun's plantation, that is now Clemson University. My father worked construction for the Duke Power Co., so we moved around the South a lot as jobs were completed. From South Carolina I then went to Carrolton Georgia, Mobile Alabama, Gulfport & Long Beach Mississippi, and finally to Houston Texas where I spent my formative years and early education in Clear Lake City/Webster -near Johnson Space Center. Then moved back to South Carolina after my father died. My mother's family is from here and after graduating high school I enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1991 through 1996. They took care of my basic college courses, so I entered into Clemson as an "almost done" Sophmore. My wife, God Bless her, is from Boston, and her family moved here to take over a few McDonald's franchises in Oconee County. After a few kids and some dead ends it became apparent that taking over her parent's business became the most viable option for us, so we now run the [expanded to] four McDonald's, where I serve as Administrator to all of them, whilst my wife is the face of the company and the one who goes from store to store to make sure things are running fine. I've got a set of twin 5yo boys in kindergarten now, and a 1 year and 1 month son who looks so much like me its unnerving.
Thanks again for the welome and I'll just go ahead and apologize up front for getting on your nerves... its just bound to happen sooner or later.
Also... if you have a problem with McDonald's or fast food in general... keep it to yourself. I get enough of that crap on the phone from disgruntled customers who have nothing better to do than whine that they got screwed in the Drive-Thru. LOL!
Oh, I got that name long before I ever enlisted in the Corps. Sixth grade actually. Some folks may not get it based on their age and television exposure during the 80's.
Do you remember the name of the bully who picked on Arnold [Gary Coleman] on the show Diff'rent Strokes?
Glad to see another new enlistee. I am sure you will enjoy your time away from McD's when you visit the board here. Hope that you will participate and get on a few nerves here. Makes for a much more interesting board.
Enjoy your time and your new friends here. And welcome, once again.
Sincerely,
Unionblue
PS And I'll have fries with that, and Supersize the whole order if you please.
