Ran across a couple of books that might answer your needs:Guns on the Western Waters, H. Allen Gosnell, LSU, 1949 and Civil war on Western Waters, Fletcher Pratt, Holt, 1956.

Out of curiosity i visited tomesofglory.com. They had these two and several others that might strike your fancy -- reasonable.

Just ran across them.
