I'm stuck in Michigan, but I've always been a rebel at heart. I've just gotten into reenacting (3rd Battery, 1st MI Light Artillery) though I would like to do a 1st VA Cavalry impression as well.
I'm a military history major and a political science minor (though I really don't like politics). My favorite time period is anything from the French/Indian Wars through WWI, but I've always been most interested by the Civil War.
On most message boards, I go by one of my horse's name (Peace of Star or Drifter), but since this is a Civil War board, I chose the name of JEB Stuart's horse, Highfly.
John W we aren't old, Highfly is just sooo young. That said Highfly I wish to welcome you to the site, you will find several horse lovers here and I hope you enjoy your stay.

Great handle and a great bit of history to go with it.
Welcome to the board.
Sincerely,

Indeed a good name. Shows originality and a good grasp of history. Welcome to the board. A big huzzah from the great state of Wisconsin

Our splendid regiment is almost destroyed. We have had nearly 400 men killed and wounded in the battles. Seven of our officers were shot and three killed in yesterday's battle and nearly 150 men killed and wounded. All from less than 300 engaged. The men have stood like iron....Maj. Your interests, like mine, are quite broad. I've done quite a bit of reading on the F&I War. I'm trying to get a F&I article published (actually Bushy Run) as well as a Civil War one. So far I've three Napoleonic era (1812 & one on the Peninsula Campaign) and two Revolutionary War articles out so far. Everything is either in Muzzle Blasts or Muzzle Loader magazine.
