I've been reading a lot of these forums for some time now, and just signed on today. I'm been impressed with the passion people bring to this forum, but also the respect shown for each other, and the amount of research folks are willing to do to support their views.
I'm a high school teacher and on Weds. I'll be starting a new unit, beginning with the firing on Ft. Sumter.
Welcome to the board! I hope that you will participate in the many debates that take place here and are willing to share your views and comments.
Sincerely,
Unionblue

Allow me to add my welcome to you. It is easy to wile away some time on this forum. Everyone is polite; and there is a lot of knowledge here. I salute anyone who is trying to teach history in schools these days. My wife (college math) and I (college biology) have both thrown in the towel after many years. Life is way less frustrating these days

Our splendid regiment is almost destroyed. We have had nearly 400 men killed and wounded in the battles.
