Hi, I've been interested in the civil war for quite a while now and just the other day stumbled onto this site. I had two ancestors that I know of in the War, Archibald Cornett, and Henderson Baker, both of Kentucky, and I've been trying to figure out If my great great grandfather William Thacker served. There were several William Thacker's in various Kentucky units. I recently took my seven year old Granddaughter to Camp Wildcat near London Kentucky, she had never heard of the Civil War and she was fascinated. I served for a while in the Washington Artillery, (Louisiana National Guard) which traces it's unit lineage back to a confederate artillery unit.
I'm also new here, just joined about a week ago, and I'm from the western part of Kentucky. I'm sure you'll find all kinds of fun and informative information here.
You ought to check out the trivia game, if you get a chance, because it is a lot of fun!
Welcome Tom. Glad to have you. Enjoy the site- we all do!! regards, ed

You will find that you've jumped into an area that you will ultimately have little time to service. The demands are great. You will be caught up in the ebb and flow and you will eventually become a little old man hunched over your keyboard with a stack of books at your elbow, furiously typing, and reading, and googling.
It's addictive. Save yourself while you still can! If you can't, enjoy one of the most fun things to have come down the pike in years.
