Mouthofthesouth,

Welcome to the board and thanks for sharing some of the history of your family tree. My own research has shown a circus carney and a cattle rustler amongst the roses.

Join in on the threads you find interesting. Always good to have another viewpoint.

WElcome, I too have had some interesting revelations in my family trial. One leg of the family was founded by a Hessian soldier captured by Washington after he crossed the Delaware... Another came over after WWI w/ nothing more than his Austrain Army kit and a lot of ambition. Hope you enjoy yourself.

Mouthofthesouth,
May I extend my welcome to you upon your entrance to this board.
By and large, there are some very interesting people who frequent this arena, some are tolerant of your views, some will do everything in their power to prove you wrong, and that in itself, is good, but since you are of the Southern persuasion, then you are already one step in the wrong direction. Be prepared. Never, but never, let them brow beat into submission, to seeing their point of view. They will point to their 'historians' as being the most correct, and yours?......Well, let's just wait and see what they will tell you. Good luck, sir. May you do your ancestors proud. Who cares if you had some black sheep in your family, I have, and so has most everyone else, at one time or another.

Stand by your guns, and stand up for your beliefs.

Respectfully,
SgtCSA

Welcome, mouth. Always good to have another CW buff aboard, no matter the persuasion. You'll see you will be joining a goodly number of 'mouths' from the South, who do their ancestors proud. With great aunts as nuns, I see you can't be all bad . Jump right in and enjoy.

Hello Lt. Newbe, welcome to the circus. I'm a descendant of Stephen, Constance and Giles Hopkins of the Plymouth Colony and would be interested in your link! I say this simply to illustrate that whatever a man's origins, he can correct the condition. I'm a Southerner in my soul, born in North Carolina. That likely ain't going to change.

Larry,

So I guess it's true then, that "We cannot escape history", especially our own.

Welcome to the forum MouthoftheSouth. I come from a law enforcement family. My grandfather fled the motherland because he was wanted by the law. My father was a jailbird. My brother gets out in a few years and they're still trying to get me for all those outstanding warrants. Other than that, we're pretty involved with law enforcement.
