Just wanted to say hello, and I'm glad I found this site. I'm looking forward to discussing my lifelong obsession with those of a similar bent.
If anyone is interested, my ancestors served in the following regiments: 51st Virginia Infantry, 54th Virginia Infantry (an interesting regiment for sure), 45th Virginia Infantry, 25th Virginia Cavalry, and 21st Virginia Cavalry.
Especially interested in hearing from anyone who has an interest in the 54th Virginia and its brother regiment, the 63rd Virginia. Virginia units permanently assigned to the AOT were rare.
Regards,
John W.

WElcome, John, you will find an individual who was asking questions about the 63rd Virginia elsewhere on this board.

Only two Virginia regiments in the Army of Tennessee, but they pulled their weight. Welcome aboard! If you will send me an e-mail at home, I'll gladly share my draft file TWO ARMIES ON THE SAME ROAD which is a work in progress tracking gg Grandpa Parker who served with the 63rd from January 1864 until May 1865. The 54th was usually camped across the ditch. I may be able to pick up your address from your listing here, if so I will go on and send the file. I'd be curious to receive your critic if possible.
I know you will enjoy this forum because we are all obsessed by this war.
Looking forward to hearing your ideas!
Your servant, sir!

If you are truly obsessed, you will achieve the equivalent of graduate degrees in these posts. Beware, however, as you will likely be diverted from your primary interests into areas that divide, sub-divide, and sub-sub-divide your available time until you have no recourse but to create more available time. Enjoy.
