I just ran across this site, and I am really enjoying reading what everyone has to say. I'm a college student majoring in history education, and I'm especially interested in the Civil War. I'm not quite sure where my interest in the Civil War started, but I know I gain more and more of an interest in it every day. I was born and raised in Pennsylvania. My ancestors were in the 143rd Pennsylvania Volunteers, and my g-g-g-g-grandfather was captured on the first day of the Battle of Gettysburg. I enjoy researching the 143rd and other Union regiments and officers, though I have great respect for the Confederates as well. Gettysburg is one of my favorite places to visit, and I regret that I haven't been there much. I know the discussions on this site will help me in my personal research (actually, they already have), and I look forward to sharing information and questions with all of you about the war.
Welcome to the group Nelly. Am sure you will enjoy your visit here, much as I do. A family atmosphere, with both fun and serious discussions by passionate students of the American Civil War.

Well welcome aboard Nelly. My brother absolutely loves your state. He's even looking to apply with the Gettysburg firedepartment (he's a fireman, so that would explain that now wouldn't it?) Enjoy your stay and chime in at any time. Everyone here is very friendly.
Bless you for finally bringing us Southerners news of somebody WE captured for a change! These are knowledgeable folks and a pleasure to be around. May your stay be long and beneficial. Welcome among us.
I'm new to CWT too and I have found it to be one of the best Civil War disussion boards out there. I welcome you to the boards and hope that you enjoy your stay. Again welcome.
Nelly28: You'll learn a lot on this site. Very knowledgable people posting from both perspectives, North and South. It's bound to help you in your studies. Welcome to you...Terry
