Default Introducing Myself

Hello there! I have to admit that I've been lurking here for a while and have just finally found the nerve to register and slowly start posting. I really enjoy the threads that I've seen here and will jump in as soon as I get a chance.

I live in western New York... and for those of you who would ask me, no that is not anywhere near the city. I'm about a 9 hour drive west of the City. I live in the County that is as far west as you can go. I actually live closer to Erie, PA than I do to Buffalo. We are known for our snow here. Buffalo only gets about 100" a winter, my area receives twice that much. lol.

I have been interested in the Civil War for quite a while. I am a Yankee and consider myself a Unionist. I first became interested when I was little because I loved the dresses. Then I read Gone With the Wind in seventh grade, decided that I wanted to know more about the actual history, and it has snowballed into an obsession since then. I have a nice-sized collection of books (160+ and adding), and would absolutely love to be a tour guide at Gettysburg someday. My g-g-grandfather served with the 15th NY Engineers, and other relatives of mine were in the 112th NYVI.

Okay, I've rambled on for long enough now. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask! Thanks and have a great day!

cw- welcome!! Old Gannon alum here (Erie, PA). Used to head over the border to Ripley (NY) of a Friday night with my college buddies to avail ourselves of NY State's college-friendly beer & spirits laws. Consequently do not remember a whole lot of those evenings. Be that as it may, you've come to a lovely place- pitch right in and enjoy. Always nice to have another Yank around. And never you mind those Southrons, they are the very embodiment of the gentility and graciousness of their land.
