Hello, everyone. Just been referred to this site. Was on yahoogroups for awhile. Found them to be wanting in a lot of areas.
I am living in northern Iowa. Have done a lot of research on Iowa regiemnts; especially the 20th. and 9th. Iowa as I had soldier ancestors in each of them.
I am also a civil war re-enactor for 6 years; and a Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War member.
If anyone has any questions, feel free to message me.
Hope to be involved here long term. There is always room for more knowledge of the civil war; or rather, the War of the Rebellion.
So you gonna bring any Johnnie Jump Up to the next event?
I think you'll like it here, plenty of devout Secesh to watch out for as well of us good old boys in blue. Some rather interesting discussion to boot.
Just a heads up as well, the message sys doesn't always seem to work all that well.
See you again

Welcome to the best board on the Civil War and ALL its related areas on the Web! And strangely enough, I mean that!
Cruise around, pick a topic, keep your sense of humor, let fly with your opinions and then duck! You will be treated with respect and curtsey, but be advised, you will be challenged and debated by some of the best people around.
Hope you enjoy your stay and that it is a long and happy one.
Sincerely,
Unionblue

Steven, I have also just found this site. I think it is great and plan to stick around as long as they will have me.
Steven, you know how I sometimes get carried away with the medical, I hope this fault does not cause me to be asked to leave here.

Welcome to the group Steve and Margaret.
Margaret, by medical are you refering to medicine in the civil war era??
If so, you might be intested in meeting another member here very interested in the medical field,
Chuck in Il
Chuck, Yes, I do mean "medicine in the civil war". I portray the head nurse with a medical unit. I would very much like to meet this other person you spoke about. Please feel free to pass on my e-mail and web site.
Margaret, I think I know who Chuck was talking about when he said there's someone here who's very interested in the medical field, and I can tell you how to contact her.
If you go to the "Campfire Chat" board, look for a thread on "How to clean an Enfield." (It's near the bottom of the list of recent threads). The seventh post in that thread is from a poster named Zou, or Blue Zouave. She's the one I think Chuck was referring to, although she wasn't talking about medical topics in that particular post.
If you click on the name Zou, you'll be connected to her profile, and if you scroll to the bottom of the profile, you'll find a button you can click on to send her a message. That way, her and your e-mail addresses don't show up on the board for anyone else to see.
