Clara Bartons biography is also quite fascinating and my wife thouroghly enjoys the Letters of Mary Chestnut. The Life of Billy Yank and The Life of johnny Reb are also must reads. There are a lot of very good books on the subject out there. Anything by Shelby Foote or Mcpherson is an absolute must. Civil War Guns by Edwards is a must if you are interested in the end all be all of the firearms of the war.
The nice thing is that most of the books I mentioned are available at your local library.
