Hello board members, I thought it would be polite to introduce myself. I am an older woman who's been reading American Civil War books for many years but only lately with regularity. I've been lurking here for a short time and have found so many articulate and informative posts. Probably I will only read at first, but I hope to contribute sooner or later.

Welcome Sockknitter!

Lurk if you like, but we would love to have you join us and give us your thoughts on the War Between the States.

Till we meet again,

Again, a hardy welcome Sockknitter. Don't lurk! Jump right in. I sure as heck did as I am sure these guys can tell you. But anyways, enjoy yourself on this board. They are a very friendly bunch.

Welcome to the group Sock Knitter (sure hope thats knitting needles you use and not a saber).

So, after reading for quite some time, what areas have you found to be the most interesting.

Thanks to you all for the welcomes. Mr. Tinder, to answer your questions, no, I don't own any sabers although double pointed needles have once in a while caused minor injuries. So far I'm finding the "Was Sherman Insane?" thread most interesting. Like Grant I think Sherman was open to new ideas for waging war but to make an understatement, he probably allowed joyous destruction to go too far. And I believe he suffered from feelings of guilt because of that as well as other moral infractions the rest of his life.

Welcome Sock Knitter. I met one "old" woman at the local round table. I've only read about 400 books but she has 2000 in her library. Talk about having an edge.
