Default New Civil War Technology

When Lee was moving toward Pennsylvania in 1863, that information was forwarded by telegraph to Washington and Baltimore.
Lee's advance was detected by not only by telegraph, but by the telescopes of the Signal Corps and their flags.
I think Lee's move to Gettysburg was made, because of his fear that Army of the Potomac units might intercept Early's division in the York area. Lee would have known that telegraph would have told Washington of Early's location in York and Lee's location near Chambersburg.
