Haven't read it yet, but it's in my pile of books. I ordered it for 2 reasons, 1) Doris K. Goodwin is a great writer, despite "the recent unpleasantness". 2) I have been intrigued by this particular subject having been first informed about it, incidentally, by my reading of Benjamin P. Thomas' Abraham Lincoln.
Oddly enough, I became most interested in this very subject (Lincoln's choice of disparate cabinet members and how he managed to deal with them thru those trying times) by having read 2 "Historical Fiction" books wherein both used this very subject as a major plot point (Lincoln by Gore Vidal, and Freedom by William Safire), so as I learned that Doris was working on a "Lincoln book", I was immensely pleased that it turned out to be about this very interesting subtext of the history of Lincoln and the war.
