Thanks for the link. I've yet to make it to anything in Mississippi or Louisiana. Couldn't find Perryville when I was in KY (ran out of time too).

Gary:

Unfortunate that you missed Perryville. It is a state park, but what they've done for the battlefield puts the NPS to shame. Very nearly all of the battlefield is within park boundaries. About 20 miles due west of Danville and about due south of Frankfort, it is easy to miss. Whilst we were traversing the grounds we asked where in Perryville we might get lunch. "The Marathon or Shell Station. The Marathon Station is a little better."

Try it again. It's well worth a visit.
