East Carolina team locates sunken Union ship in Roanoke River

JAMESVILLE, N.C. - Lacking the fame of the iron-plated USS Monitor or the Confederate gunboat Albemarle, sunken remains of the Union warship Otsego became little more than a snag in the Roanoke River after the Civil War.

Steven. Thanks for that post. How many other artifacts are out there to be dug up and examined. In Vicksburg last week, we viewed the remains of the USS Cairo. Totally awesome -- a great chunk of history sitting there waiting to be walked on, talked about, and to reveal it's secrets.

Well Iknow of several barges and Ships that are sunk on the tennessee river ne Johnsonville that Forrest suck in 1864.. they are just laying there waiting for the $$$ to bring them up from the bottom of the river..
