Default Middle school may lose Confederate-era name

Middle school may lose Confederate-era name
Palm Beach Post Tue, 21 Jun 2005 9:51 PM PDT
The onetime president of the Confederacy's name may soon be consigned to the history books at a Palm Beach County middle school. Jefferson Davis Middle in Palm Springs is poised to join other schools nationwide shedding the name of the Civil War leader in favor of a less divisive moniker.

Just another, (of many), example of trying not to offend anyone. Malcolm X was about as racist as anyone I've ever heard about. When he was with the Black Panthers, he advocated the overthrough of the Federal Government, by blood shed, if neccessary, so, shouldn't we erase his name from history? Another sign pointing to City, County, State and Federal leaders doing their utmost to obliterate the proud heritage of a people who stood up for ideals that they believed in. Even in the deeper South, this blight on Southerners' posterity continues.

Heaven forbid, if history is done away with because someone gets upset with those events, be they true or not. While they're at it, let's blot out the holocost, it sheds bad light on the German people. How do you think that would go over in the Jewish community? Okay.......let's change any school in the South with the moniker of Martin L. King! Oh baby..........would that raise a howl, or what?

Regards,
SgtCSA
