Clermont Iowa Event - The South rose again Saturday - Sunday; the North won again
The South rose again Sunday; the North won again Waterloo Cedar-Falls Courier Mon, 20 Jun 2005 10:30 AM PDT
CLERMONT --- Gunfire echoed down the wagon trail. Heading down hill and then back up through the woods, visitors of Heritage Farm Park, found themselves at the Alabama-Georgia border, Sunday. It was 1863, the middle of the Civil War.
Nice article! Now that's what I like....the North wins one day and the South wins the other. Great for morale.

Thats the way most events are done at other events since most of the reenctors down south galvanize and one day one side wears blue the next day they will wear gray.. That way we as reenactors get to play both sides of the ball so to speak.
kindest regards,
Steven

Actually this event had a battlefield alot like North Georgia... lots of underbrush and thick woods. Visibility was less than 100 yards. it was a splendid fight. First day the US troops were mauled by a concealed gun firing canister.... first shot was high second was spot on. Very ugly.
Second day we flanked the gun and courtesy of some particularly good markmanship yours truly and two others shut down the gun and later captured it. They still made us bleed pretty well. Scott's Battery IMHO is one of the best re-enacting units in the Upper Midwest check out their site at www.scottsbattery.org
Pictures of this year and last years event can be found at www.Iowavalor.com

Thanks for the clarification, guys. Actually when we go to these we only go on the second day so, since we're in the South, we always see the South win. (That's pretty hard to do at the Battle of Selma though. )
Does this mean that each participant must have clothes for both the Blue and the Gray or do they just "make do" when they play the worthy opponent's part?
....just curious...

I have both uniforms put normally wear my jean cloth confederate unless we are asked to portray yanks
When I do whear my blue i want to burn down buildings and make georgia howl : )
Actualy I rember that i had relatives that fought for the north as well and I try to preserve their memory by doing the best i can.
