Artifacts Recovered from USS Monitor Turret - Article 10/21/02

CNN.com reports on the recovery of artifacts from the USS Monitor turret. Among the artifacts already recovered:

three silver spoons
a silver fork
two bone and ivory knife handles
fragments from a wool overcoat
a key
coins
uniform buttons
hard-rubber comb
a gold ring
three shoes
a boot
various cannon implements
coal

The turret's two 11-inch Dahlgren guns are also expected to be recovered soon.
