AP, Just read the article in the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Seems you beat me to the post

Interesting thing to me is her husband was captured and sent to Ohio. Must have been Johnsons Island. I'm going to see what I can find on him.

Mrs. Hopkins' claim to being a Confederate widow seems legitimate enough.

When you think about it, it makes sense that any Civil War widows who have survived to the present day are most likely to come from little, out-of-the-way places, where news travels slowly and where the prevailing view of what is morally right and proper may be different from what it is in a lot of other places.

Some day, the last Civil War widow truly will pass away. The sad thing is, it's entirely possible that the rest of the world will never know that she really was the last Civil War widow.
