Default New Dress - Ladies, I'd love to hear opinions

Please note the visible waistband. Is this period correct? And if not, would it be hard to change this feature on the dress want created?

As for the sleaves, is this the type I'd wear a cuff with?

The waistband looks fine. My dresses are made from a Heide Marsh patterns that is drafted from an orignal dress with a waistband. The waistband looks very similar to the original dress. If you can find the book "Who Wore What?" I highly recommend it to every female reenactor.

The visible waistband is fine. Oftentimes the bodice was only whipped to the waistband, and on washday the skirt and bodice were taken apart and the bodice washed separately.

You could add a plain white collar and cuffs to this to dress it up a bit if you wanted to. Just not Battenburg lace -- that came later.

If those buttons down the front are plastic, you'll want to replace them with shell buttons. You can order them from www.homesew.com.

Awesome Zou! Thank you so much for the link, I'll check it out.

I'm working now to find a pattern for a collar and cuffs for the dress.

Happen to know where I can get a pattern from?
