It would depend upon the time of day whether she was a lady or no. No lady shows her arms or bosom before 3 PM!!

Meh, depends what time and/or what formal setting this party was held. Should this be a lowerclass "Barn Dance" type of thing, the lady would have been VERY overdressed (or uh.. underdressed one might say ). Should it be a formal ball for the planter class, she would have been pretty normal.

Thats a pretty neat quote! Mayhaps Scarlet *was* period correct!
