Question Uniform braid

I've been asked by a Captain in my unit to put the sleeve braid on a new frock coat of his. Can anyone suggest where I might find the braid? We don't have a local fabric store. I've searched online and have found several sutlers that have braid, but no pictures so I'm not certain if it is what I'm looking for. I've also seen the term gullions, is that the proper term for the sleeve design? How wide should Captains be? On the coat I've seen it's 1/4" single strand, but I've heard of Captains having 2 strands but no width of the strands is mentioned. Also, one of the Sargents stated when he sewed his stripes on, he didn't go through the lining. Is that how the Captain's braid should be done? I've never sewn the fancy braiding on the sleeves before, so any suggestions are welcomed.

Default Suggestion

I guess it would have been two 1/4 inch strands. I seen photos of original uniforms...and there were different interpertations. But the pattern was pretty much the same. These 'gullions' are also known as Hungarian lace and other names.

Google "Authentic Campaigner" and maybe pose the same question.

VS...etc

It's too late to put braid on a coat when the sleeves are on it. I am not saying that it can't be done. It would be many times easier if you were to take the sleeves off and take them apart to sew the braid on it.
I had to had sew by hand the braid on a Generals coat one time. It took me 4 days to do it. I swore off the chicken guts.
