hello all,
I was just wondering if anyone knew where I might get some good ladies shoes. I have tried looking, but nothing seems to work.(it may also be that I have a very small shoe size, of 3, and the places that I have looked dont make them that small)
I have also been told that the shoes should be sqaure toed and with a small heel.
is this correct?
thanks,
-AJ

AJ, go to the Fugawee site http://fugawee.com/ and click on the Civil War Ladies link. This way you can see what kind of shoe you're shooting for. These are sturdy outdoorsy boots. For everyday house wear ladies used what they called slippers, just a plain flat shoe like the flats you get at Payless (if you have Payless Shoe Source there.) In the past they have also had boots which would pass for Balmoral boots.

Size 3, eh? I'm at the opposite end, size 12 wide!

Default try Blockade Runner

You can try Blockade Runner for ladie's boots. I recommend the Ladies Work Boots that are patterned after a real ladie's boot from the CW era. They are around $80, made from real leather with real peg nails, and they feel great for being period-correct!Give 'em a try! they are worth the money!

You can also try missouri boot and shoe. He is a little more expensive but you get a good shoe.

Fungawee, Missouri Boot and Shoe, and Robert Land are good. I wouldn't recommend The BLockade Runner though.

Robert Lands website is: www.robertlandhistoricshoes.com

Robert Land and Fungawee have two pairs of shoes that are $79 dollars that are very nice.
