Fort Stedman, Petersburg Battlefield During my recent trip to the USA, I visited the Petersburg Battlefield. When I reached the site where Fort Stedman had been, I got out of the car to take some pictures. It was late afternoon and I was alone there. Just as I was walking up to the marker with the explanations, I heard something and nearly dropped my camera. A bugle call (I think that's the right word?)!! It wasn't very loud but clearly audible and for a moment, it scared me enough to return to the car.
I don't know where the sound came from and I'm sure there's a logical explanation for it but it was kind of creepy in that particular moment to hear it.
