Default Farnsworth Inn....a funny story!

I can't believe you guys don't have the Farnsworth House (Gettysburg) on your list of haunted places!

Well, I have a sort of funny story about it. Last year, I went to Gettysburg and thought it would be really cool to stay at the Farnsworth because it was considered notoriously haunted. Well, okay, it seemed like a good idea at the time!

Of course, going to a place that is considered haunted invites all sorts of intrigue...not to mention it acts like freebased adrenaline on the imagination!! Whether the place is really haunted or not, I'll never know. I only know that every teensy sound, creek, thump, will keep you awake ALL night!! I was fine with the whole idea until it came time to go to bed. I'd gone with a girl friend of mine so we got a room with two beds, separated by a nightstand with a lamp on it. Well, I decided that the light needed to be on all night because the place was starting to give me the creeps and I was pretty worn out from being on 'paranormal high alert' for most of the day.

Well, she innocently (and erroneously) thought that once I'd actually fallen asleep she could turn the light out. Not so fast, there, Tonto! She said that as soon as she turned the light out I popped up like bread out of toaster and rasped 'Did you turn that light out?!'. Luckily, she mercifully decided my state of 'panic' would render any comical pranks at that time in the worst of taste....so she admitted that she did. Of course, the light went right back on and STAYED on! She later said if she'd been quicker on her feet (and maybe less sympathetic) she would have answered in the negative!! Of course, by that time we'd have high-tailed it up the street in our pajamas to the Holiday Inn at 1:30 in the morning! Needless to say, it was a restless night of quirky 'napping'. Note to self: if the ghosts themselves don't freak you out, then you're sure to freak yourself out given the highly suggestive environment! It's like a cat looking at its own reflection in the mirror. Of course, all this is funny now; a teensy bit irritating at the time though.

One can only assume, at any rate, that the ghosts probably had a good laugh!

Anyway - it was an interesting experience; figured you'd all get a kick out of it (regardless of your own beliefs). I'm open to the paranormal, but remain decidedly skeptical of it since there are very few serious researchers of it and it's far too susceptible and vulnerable to quackery and mischief.

Hi gary!! Yes, I lived!!

I hope I'm not silly enough to do it again!! Either that, or I hope those Farnsworth ghosts don't show up at Holiday Inn....then I would really be upset!!

Remember Poltergeist? 'We're back!'
