At the Camp Chase Confederate Cemetary, a mournful lady in gray, dressed in an antibellum traveling suit, visits the grave of Benjamin E. Allen. Allen was with the 50th Tennessee Regiment, and fresh flowers have appeared on the grave for many years. The Lady in Gray has been seen drifting through trees and other solid objects near his grave and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. During a Civil War ceremony in 1988, the untraceable sounds of a woman's weeping were heard by dozens of witnesses. |
